Thank You Mr. President

I have disagreed with the president Bush on many issues, No Child Left Behind is a disaster, Serious miscalculations where made in prosecuting the Iraq and Afghanistan wars early on. He did not do enough to try to control spending. On other things like katrina and the economy I think he has been given more blame for then is his due. All in all though I understand why so many are relieved he is leaving office.
I am however disturbed by the invective and hate that has been directed at President Bush by those who disagree with him.

At the opening of the Frost Nixon movie the Hollywood elites compared George Bush to Nixon saying Nixons crimes pale in comparison to what Bush did. Luckily Journalist Chris Wallace had the guts to stand up to them. He said;

“Richard Nixon's crimes were committed purely in the interest of his own political gain,"… I think to compare what Nixon did, and the abuses of power for pure political self preservation, to George W. Bush trying to protect this country — even if you disagree with rendition or waterboarding — it seems to me is both a gross misreading of history both then and now,"

I also find it interesting that the incoming administration is paying so much homage to Abraham Lincoln at the inaugural. Yet Lincoln (probably unconstitutionally) suspended the writ of Habeas Corpus at the beginning of the Civil War. Lincoln did it for the same reasons Bush did what he did, to protect the United States of America. I am not saying you can not disagree with them. I am saying their motives where pure and neither deserves to be vilified for their actions.

The fact of the matter is that since September 11th 2001 there has not been a terrorist attack on US soil. Looking back did you on September 12th did you think that would be the case today? I hope we can say the same thing over the next eight years.
He also deserves credit for removing a vicious sadistic and dangerous dictator and giving the Iraqi people the opportunity for freedom. I admit the final outcome is not yet clear but let me ask the critics. Four years from now if I Iraq is at peace and has a democratically elected government will you give Bush credit for that?

Yes the Bush administration has made mistakes but the unrivalled hate that has been directed at him is disgraceful. George Bush is a good, honest, decent man who did what he believed was right rather then what was politically expedient. He did the best that he could in what has been one of our countries most trying times.

To President Bush I say thank you for your service to your country, Thank you for keeping us safe and God Bless You.

Analysis: Americans happy 'failed marriage' with Bush is ending

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- For most Americans, the Bush era is ending not a moment too soon.

As President Bush prepares to leave office, three quarters of Americans have a parting thought: "Good riddance."

Asked their view of President Bush at the end of his presidency, 75 percent said they are glad he is leaving, according to a CNN-Opinion Research Corporation poll taken in December. Only 23 percent said they will miss him.

Only 17 percent now believe Bush united the country.

Fewer than a third of Americans believe George W. Bush will go down in history as a good president. Forty percent said Bush leaves a poor legacy and 28 percent said Bush is the worst president in American history.

Bush was an idiot from day one. He continually fumbled when he spoke in public; he was a complete imbecile, an embarrassment really. But that is no reason to hate him. It has truly been frustrating to watch him make a clown of himself again and again. The man had no composure. Have you seen him lately swaying from side to side as he addressed the cameras? He has no grip. But that is no reason to hate him. It is almost comical the way he stubbornly refuses to admit mistakes. He’s not very likable but still that is no reason to hate him. However, he supported the invasion of another country that posed no direct threat to us and he cannot be forgiven for this. He and his cabinet have pillaged Iraq for profit at the cost of over 4200 American lives. He cannot be forgiven for that. Hatred is a human weakness and I don’t want any part of it. However, George W. Bush is not welcome at my table.

4200 Americans dead and untold tens of thousands Iraqis slaughtered! Thank you indeed Mr. President! In the meantime the Son of Liberty sits in front of his computer in his red white and blue matching panties and bra wanking his patriotic dick dispelling fairy tales of Jesus and the Magic Wand. Get real. Try cleaning your spunk off the screen and see things for what they truly are!

Probably worth a mention, somewhere, that under Bush, the DOW did reach a peak above 14K and was well above the 11-12-13K marks for an extended period of time.

Granted we can bitch about FED actions, banks, investment firms, the cost of oil, and all of the other trickery that lead to those indexes reaching such numbers - but everyone who was dumping money into their 401K, mutual funds, stocks, etc never complained about the economy until they realized that they were investing in vapor-ware, poorly run companies or ponzi schemes.

Like SOL, I can't say agree with much of anything Bush did - he really is/was a terrible president - but then there is/was a time where even if we weren't happy, we weren't always complaining so vocally either. I'll admit, I put (a lot of) money into a 401K and other investments hoping to get rich quick and retire early - I have no idea if/where/who my money is today - it's just "in my 401K"... or should I say "no in my 401K" since it's down about 57%. Again, easy to complain now, but I know that I didn't do my part to ensure my broker/401K was being managed by people unlike Mr. Madoff and I didn't do my part to make sure that companies that my funds were invested in were all legit companies with legit CEOs/boards.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - it could have been much worse these past eight years - Gore could have been elected - how's his marriage doing these days... ohh, right.

As a conservative, I agree that the past eight years have not been the best in our nations history. President Bush made several mistakes, we can all agree on that fact, but he is not the idiot that the media and his detractors have made him out to be.

The section of the post that refers to how we felt and thought on September 12, 2001 sums it all up. We have not been attacked again on his watch, for that, I am eternally grateful.

Little Hostile to religion aren't we?

For your information I do not wear a bra. I find them much to restrictive.

Since you obviously have read my blog and don't like it why do you keep reading it? You should talk to your therapist about these masachistic tendancies.

AnyWay, Thanks for checking in. Its good to know I am pissing people off. Its sort of what I live for.

PS do you kiss your mother with that mouth.

Try expressing yourself without resorting to sexual refrences. In the future that type of thing will be deleted.

I am leaving this one up so people can see the juvenile mentality of the Bush Haters.

Well SOL, all I can say to the Bush years, and the thugs that are in the White House, don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out. Good riddance to bad apples. And, I don't think I'm one of the juvenile, profanity laden mentality Bush haters you referenced in your last comment, I just want him gone...and to just fade away into that "Mission Accomplished" delusion in the sky.
